Five individuals identified in 'Shurongo' piracy case: Legal action underway

The Bangladeshi film industry is grappling with yet another piracy incident as Raihan Rafi's blockbuster film "Shurongo" and Himel Ashraf's "Priyotoma" faced unauthorised distribution on various movie-related platforms. The hall prints of the films were illegally released, causing significant distress to the film's creators and jeopardising its commercial success.

The "Shurongo" team, which included Raihan Rafi, Afran Nisho, Tama Mirza, and "Priyotoma" producer Arshad Adnan, went to DIG Harunor Rashid's office to seek legal help for their film's infringement yesterday night. 

Shahriar Shakil, one of the film's producers, expressed, "We have been actively trying to combat piracy and have managed to remove several illegal copies digitally. The video streaming platform Charki has been instrumental in this endeavour. However, despite our efforts, complete control remains elusive. Consequently, we escalated the matter and filed a formal complaint at the DB head's office. The Additional Commissioner of Police (DB) has assured us that swift action will be taken against those involved."

Five individuals allegedly involved in the piracy have been identified, and their names and addresses are provided in the charge sheet. 

The detective police are also taking legal measures against those sharing and promoting pirated copy online. Shahriar Shakil thanked the Metropolitan Additional Commissioner of Police (DB) for attentively listening to their concerns and promising stringent action.
