Ferdous remembers his childhood Eids

"Hothat Brishti" star Ferdous has earned much appreciation for his excellence on the silver screen. The actor managed to charm the audience of both Bangladesh and Kolkata over his two-decades-long career as an actor.

In a casual chat with The Daily Star, the actor fondly recalled his childhood memories of Eid.

Ferdous shared, "Nothing could beat your childhood Eid celebrations, those colourful and beautiful experiences are something you'll never get back once you are older. Recalling those days always refreshes my mind and heart. Sometimes, I wonder how great it would be if we could turn back time and return to those days." 

Walking down memory lane, the "Guerrilla" star shared, "Back in those days, I used to get three new pieces of clothing just for Eid, a new panjabi to wear for Eid prayers in the morning, a new t-shirt for the day, and a shirt for the night. So many years have passed since then, but those memories still flash through my eyes like it was just yesterday and I nostalgically lose myself in them."

Ferdous spent most of his childhood Eids in Narayanganj, where he used to live. He fondly remembers how he used to spend the Eid afternoons with his friends at the bank of a pond called Golakata Pukur. Now, every Eid, the actor fondly recalls those same childhood friends.

"We used to get Eidi or salami, which I would spend on tickets to the cinemas with my friends. I was quite addicted to watching films even back then. Afterward, my friends and I would roam around the neighbourhood. Those were truly blissful days!" added Ferdous.

The actor had also spent quite a bit of his childhood in Dhaka's Cantonment area. After moving there, he enrolled in a new school and made new friends.

"The Garrison cinema hall was quite close to our house," he recalls. "I used to go watch films there every Eid, in the afternoon, with my new friends Joy, Asif, and Nabil, just to name a few."

"At this point, going to the cinema hall on Eid afternoon had turned into a habit for me," shared the actor. "The delight of watching cinemas at the hall on Eid was really something else entirely."

"Now, our responsibilities have increased. I am happy as long as the people around me—from my driver to each and every one of my family members—are having a good time celebrating Eid," said Fedous.

Even now that he is older, the actor still gets Eidis and gifts. "I still get salami and Eid gifts from my mother and father-in-law. And, receiving them still fills me with joy. Moreover, I have already gotten my gift for this Eid from my father-in-law."

Ferdous concluded by saying, "At the end of the day, my childhood Eids are still the best in my eyes. Those days are evergreen memories carefully kept in my heart."
