Eid telefilms with female leads you need to check out

This Eid saw many Bangladeshi actresses taking on roles that aren't traditionally associated with women in the industry. Challenging the contemporary idea that women are simply compliant partners or pretty ladies—for the male lead to pursue—many actresses stepped up and took on roles that told the stories of strong and empowered female characters.

With female protagonists, Sabila Nur, Tanjin Tisha, and Mehazabien Chowdhury graced our screens during this Eid, bringing forward some fresh and unique storylines that featured strong women in the lead roles. Bewlo is a list of female-centric Eid films that everyone should check out:

Ambulance Girl
Directed by Anonno Emon
Starring: Mehazabien Chowdhury and Sudip Biswas Deep

 

The titular character, played by Mehazabien, drives an ambulance, taking countless patients to the hospital against all the odds. Even though she is mocked and judged for being a female ambulance driver, Mehazabien continues to save lives. Throughout the show, we are left questioning how long can Mehazabien keep fighting against all of the people who stand in her way and whether she will ever allow herself to feel the warmth of love?

Desperate times call for desperate measures. "Voice Clip" is the story of a daughter desperately trying her to raise the medical expenses for her father who is suffering from cancer. Mehazabien's character, the daughter, faces numerous obstacles while trying to arrange the money for her father's treatment.

Rickshaw Girl

Starring: Tanjin Tisha and Sohel Mondol

This Eid, Tanjin Tisha is all set to play the role of a female rickshaw-puller named Shikha. In her small family, Shikha dreams of a better life that is promised to her by Rezaul,who suddenly goes missing one day. Overcome by the struggles of reality, and in a desperate attempt to make ends meet, Shikha starts working as a rickshaw puller, while facing a variety of challenges.

Behind an empowered working woman are the untold stories of uncomfortable sexual harassment, discrimination, and unwelcomed exchanges from the opposite gender. Stuck between the choice to keep a job she desperately needs and the torture she can no longer take, "May I come in" unravelled the hidden story of a hard-working woman. 

Nijessho Protibedon
