When "Drishyam" was released in 2015, soon the remake of the movie was finalized. "Drishyam" was one of the most gripping and enthralling thrillers witnessed in Hindi, and audiences were a bit skeptical about the sequel. Often, sequels fail to carry the charm. But when one sees "Drishyam 2", one would see the epitome of a brilliant sequel.

"Drishyam" was a Malayalam film released in 2013, and its sequel was released in 2021. Both the movies went on to become massive hits, and had been remade in several Indian languages.

"Drishyam 2" was released theatrically in 2022 and has recently been added to the online streaming service Amazon Prime Video. Since the release, it has been widely acclaimed, and it has been ranking on the service lately.

The movie continues from the plot of the first film, a reinvestigation of the murder of Meera Deshmukh's son. Vijay Salgaonkar and his family are ruffled by the new IG, Tarun Ahlawat, a friend of Meera. The movie unfolds as Meera and Tarun desperately dig into the issue, with the resistance of Vijay slowly crumbling.

The ensemble cast of Ajay Devgn, Akshaye Khanna and Tabu among others is the key to the brilliant execution of the movie. The mental games that the characters participate in are aptly out on display by their performances.

Shot in beautiful locations of Goa, and set in the same, the movie is a perfect story of trouble in paradise. The cinematography accentuates the narration, the contrasting calm natural beauty almost highlighting the tension in the air.

In fact, the movie doesn't let you take your attention off even for a while. It keeps you on your toes, with constant plot twists gripping you. Constant anticipation, the sensation of looming danger and an ethical debate mark the experience of the watch.

"Drishyam 2", just like its prequel, has been able to highlight certain complex questions regarding the criminal and justice system. One ponders over the ethical dilemmas constantly in play, and tries to find one right answer to them. It is a tale of tactics and ethics. And the audience is never sure of either.
