Chorki’s journey begins today

At a time when the country's film industry is in the throes of the Covid-19 epidemic, the value of video streaming platforms is rising around the world. With domestic and foreign OTT platforms gaining ground in Bangladesh, Chorki, one of the largest video streaming platforms in Bangladesh, started its journey today.

The launching ceremony of the platform was held online today in the presence of filmmaker Redoan Rony, popular actor Joya Ahsan and the whole team of Chorki, alongside many other popular faces from the entertainment industry. About 200 streaming content, including movies, series, shows, and documentaries can be seen on the platform.

"The wait is over," said an excited Redoan Rony, noted filmmaker and CEO of Chorki. "Through this initiative, we, producers, directors, actors, and crew, can come together who share one common goal – creating quality content in Bangla and let our audience from any part of the world enjoy our creations."

Chorki is a platform for Bangla speakers all around the world, not just for Bangladeshi visitors. The team of Chorki is trying their best to stay ahead technically and offer its services globally, if not in every single country of the world.

"It is difficult to fulfill this dream of presenting the content of Bangladesh to the world by trying alone. Luckily, we have received a lot of support and inspiration from many on this journey, including Media Star Ltd. Family, the team of Chorki, and our beloved filmmakers, actors, and crew from the film industry. So, without any further delay, let the journey begin with films, fun, and a lot of merriment," he adds.

Chorki can be as easily accessed by expatriates and foreigners as easy it is for Bangladeshi audiences. Every visitor, be it the ones seeking free content, or permanent viewers who wish to buy a subscription, are equally important and welcome on Chorki. Monthly, semi-yearly, and yearly subscription packs are available for the visitors to choose from.

While the subscribers will enjoy benefits such as ad-free streaming and have access to the original content and many more, seasonal visitors can also enjoy the content offered by Chorki with the purchase of single-show tickets. "While one ticket only provides for one individual in movie theatres, it provides for a complete family of is enough for a bunch of friends who want to enjoy the film or series together," mentions Redoan Rony.

Coming to the means of streaming, the Chorki App is compatible with all sorts of modern devices including IOS, Android Phone, iPad, Desktop, Laptop, Samsung TV, Android TV Box, and Fire Stick. Desktop or laptop users can simply log in to www.chorki.com to enjoy unlimited video streaming.

A helpline service, active from midday to midnight will also be active alongside Facebook messenger and their official email in case of queries and troubles faced by the visitors.

Chorki has started its journey with the original web series "Morichika" directed by Shihab Shaheen. The first episode of the multi-starrer anthology series "Unoloukik" based on the story written by Shibabrata Barman directed by Rabiul Alam Robi has also been released on the same day.

Earlier this year, Chorki promised that they would release 12 movies in 12 months. As a part of that promise, Adnan Al Rajeev's "Youtumor", Amitabh Reza Chowdhury's "Munshigiri" and Mizanur Rahman Aryan's "Networker Baire" and many more such original productions will also be released soon as premium content. Some popular foreign movies with Bangla dubbing will also be available as premium content.

Many tele-fictions, made by noted directors such as Nurul Alam Atique, Giasuddin Selim, Animesh Aich, Iftekhar Ahmed Fahmi, Ashfaque Nipun, Redoan Rony, and Shihab Shaheen, among many others, will also be available for free streaming.
