The 28th edition of the Busan International Film Festival is set to kick off today in Busan, South Korea. To celebrate this 10-day festival, posters of the featured films have been adorned throughout the city.

This year's festival will showcase 209 films from 69 countries, including three Bangladeshi films that have made it onto the list of selected films.

According to reports, Iqbal Hossain Chowdhury's "Boli" (The Wrestler), Biplop Sarkar's "Agantuk" (The Stranger), and Mostofa Sarwar Farooki's "Something like an Autobiography" are all poised to have their worldwide premieres at the Busan International Film Festival. Posters for these three Bangladeshi productions have also been displayed in various parts of the city, with "Boli" and "Agantuk" competing in the New Current award category, and "Something like an Autobiography" participating in the Jiseok award category.

The government-funded film "Boli" will have its world premiere on October 7-9 during the festival, featuring renowned actor Nasir Uddin Khan and Priyam Archi in significant roles. Meanwhile, "Agantuk" is scheduled to have its world premiere on October 7, 8 and 11 during the festival. The film received the Prasad DI award last year from the 16th Film Bazaar Recommends jury in Goa, India, in the 'Viewing Room' section.

The Chorki original, "Something like an Autobiography", will be featured in the Jiseok award category of the festival. To celebrate Chorki original works making it to the Busan International Film Festival, the streaming platform has organised "Bangladesh Nights at Busan" at the Lavi De Atlan hotel on October 9.

The ten-day Busan International Film Festival is scheduled to conclude on October 13.

Simultaneously, Robiul Alam Robi's "Suraiya" has also secured a spot in the Asian Project Market (ASM). The 26th edition of the Asian Project Market will be held from October 7-10 at the Busan Exhibition and Convention Centre alongside the ongoing international film festival. The film's storyline is based on Shibabrata Barman's novel of the same name, with a total budget of Tk 4.35 crore. The director aims to co-produce the film with financial support from the ASM.
