Yesterday, the 69th Indian National Film award took place at New Delhi's Vigyan Bhawan. President Droupadi Murmu handed over the awards to the recipients at the event.

Alia Bhatt won the National Award for Best Actress for her performance in "Gangubai Kathiawadi". The actress was accompanied by her husband, Ranbir Kapoor, who looked dapper in black.

The "Gangubai Kathiawadi" actress was both praised and criticised by netizens for repeating her wedding dress at the special occasion.

The actress posted an Instagram story where she shared the reason for wearing her wedding saree.

"A special day calls for a special outfit. And sometimes that outfit is already there. What's special once can be special again and again," read her story.

Another coincidence was that National Award winners- Waheeda Rehman, Alia Bhatt, and Kriti Sanon all wore cream sarees at the event. However, the off-white saree was extra special for Alia Bhatt, as she wore the same dress for her wedding.

Sabyasachi designed Alia's wedding saree, a scalloped off-white confection with subtle gold embroidery. Alia Bhatt wore the saree with a veil covering her head and Sabyasachi jewelry on her wedding day, April 14, 2022. Alia wore flowers in her hair when she accepted her National Award.

Both Kriti Sanon and Alia Bhatt wore flowers in their hair along with their cream coloured sarees. They both shared the National Award for Best Actress for their roles in "Gangubai Kathiawadi" and "Mimi."

At the ceremony, veteran actress Waheeda Rehman won the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, India's top film honour. Waheeda, who looked stunning in a cream saree, is well-known for her roles in films such as "Guide," "Pyaasa, Kaagaz Ke Phool," and "Chaudhvin Ka Chaand," among many more.

South actor Allu Arjun became the first Telugu actor to receive the National Film Awards' Best Actor Award. He was recognised for his remarkable performance in "Pushpa," a pan-Indian film distributed in five languages: Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi. The film went on to set and break countless box office records throughout the world. "I am extremely happy that I am receiving this award, like we are receiving for commercial film. It is a double achievement for me," Allu Arjun said upon receiving the award.
