Ahmed Rubel bags Best Actor award for ‘Priyo Satyajit’

Bangladeshi actor Ahmed Rubel has claimed the 'Best Actor' award, under the Feature Film category, at the 15th Jaipur International Film Festival 2023 (JIFF). Rubel was nominated for his performance in the Satyajit Ray tribute film, "Priyo Satyajit". 

The 15th edition of JIFF took place on January 6 in India. The Proshoon Rahmaan directorial film, "Priyo Satyajit", also bagged the 'Best Cinematography' award and the 'Best Editor' award under the same category. Mahfuzul Haque Ashique won the 'Best Editor' award at the prestigious festival. 

The film was produced as tribute to the legendary director, Satyajit Ray, on the occasion of his 100th birth anniversary.

"Priyo Satyajit" made its international premiere at the South Asian Film Festival in Vancouver, Canada, around November of 2022. The film was also screened at the Florence International Film Festival in Italy and the Kerala International Film Festival in India.

The tribute film was also honoured with a special award, at the Florence International Film Festival. Recently, on January 6, "Priyo Satyajit" had its first screening in Bangladesh, on the second day of Dhaka Lit Fest.
