16th Oikko-Channel i Music Awards to be held in New York

The 16th edition of Oikko-Channel i Music Awards is scheduled to be held in New York on November 14.

Considered as one of the prestigious awards in South Asia, the show was initiated in 2004.

The organisers confirmed the news in a press meet at New York's Gulshan Terrace Banquet Hall earlier on November 2. The programme was presided by Rashed Ahmed, CEO, Channel i, New York.

Marking the golden jubilee of Bangladesh, this year's slogan will be "Shadhinotar Ponchash Bochhore Bangladesher Gaan" (Songs of Bangladesh in 50 years of Independence). Also there will be no competition round this year as mentioned in a press note.

50 prominent singers, lyricists and composers will be honoured this year for their contributions in the music in all these years of independence of Bangladesh.

Besides them, like every year one artiste will be given the Lifetime Achievement award.

The show will be aired on Channel i on 1 January 2022.
