Wrishiz Shilpi Gosthi awards ‘Wrishiz Padak’ on 45th anniversary

Celebrating the golden Jubilee of our Independence and their 45th anniversary, Wrishiz Shilpi Gosthi organised the awarding ceremony of Wrishiz Padak on November 30, at the 'Sangeet, Abriti O Nritya Kala' Auditorium, Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy. The formal session was followed by a cultural programme.

Noted author Selina Hossain attended the event as the chief guest. Researcher Golam Kuddus, President of Sommilito Sangskritik Jote was present as the special guest. The event was chaired by Suraiya Alamgir.

Ferdous Wahid received the Wrishiz Padak.

Ferdous Wahid, a recipient of the Wrishiz Padak this year, spoke about the legacy of his friend Fakir Alamgir, the founder of Wrishiz Shilpi Gosthi. The other recipients are Bangla Academy Director General poet Mohammad Nurul Huda and noted Nazrul singer Shaheen Samad.

The programme moderators were Fakir Shiraj and Afroza Kona.

Shaheen Samad received the Wrishiz Padak.

The event started with the National Anthem, followed by a musical performance by the members of Wrishiz Shilpi Gosthi. This led to a discussion and the award ceremony.

The session concluded with a group performance by noted cultural organisations.

Wrishiz Shilpi Gosthi started its journey on November 22, 1975. Every year on its anniversary, the organisation honours three pioneering figures in the world of arts and culture.

This year was different as the founder, celebrated musician Fakir Alamgir passed away due to a cardiac arrest on July 23, after fighting Covid-19.
