Winners of Channel i Music Awards this year

The 18th edition of the Sunsilk-Channel i Music Awards, a glamorous and star-studded affair, unfolded at the Sheraton Hotel in the capital city yesterday night, showcasing some of the most outstanding figures in the country's music industry.

The event was graced by the presence of Impress Telefilm and Channel i Managing Director Faridur Reza Sagar, News Chief Shykh Seraj, and top executives from Unilever and Channel i.

This year's award ceremony paid tribute to the luminaries of Bangladesh's music scene, recognising the exceptional contributions of celebrated lyricists, music directors, and vocal artistes.

Bangladesh National Film Award recipient Shujeo Shyam, who is also an artiste at the Swadhin Bangla Betar Kendra, received the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award. In other categories, Tanim Rahman Anshu and Anika, Yamin Elan, and Onima Ray were honoured for their exceptional work in the Best Music Video category.

Shuvro Dev's Valentine's Day song "Bajche Prem Abar" won the Genre-based Song award.

Mahmud Murad was crowned the Best Contemporary Music Lyricist award in the critics' choice category, and Soundtech secured the Best Audio Company award.

The Best Band title was claimed by Chirkut, and Syed Arif Al Haque received the Best Sound Engineer award for the song "Hey". Humaira Ishika was acknowledged as the Best Emerging Artiste for her song "Abhimani Chhata".

Emon Chowdhury and Atia Anisha bagged the Best Artiste award in the Film Soundtrack category for the movie "Paap Punno". Together, they shared the honour with Chandan Sinha.

Foad Nasser Babu received the Best Music Director award in the Film category, while Russell Mahmood secured the Best Lyricist award in the Film Category for penning the title track of "Damal".

Oyshee and Dyoito were recognised in the Folk Song category, while Asif Akbar and Lopa Hossain received the award in the Contemporary Music category. In the Classical Music category, Supriya Das was recognised for her vocal prowess, while Sohini Majumdar and Subrata Biswas received awards for their instrumental excellence.

Bulbul Islam was honoured for his mastery of Rabindra Sangeet, and Runa Laila was celebrated as the Best Artiste in the Contemporary Music category. Kaushik Hossain Taposh and Fahmida Nabi jointly received awards as the Best Music Directors in the Contemporary Music category, and Joy Shahriar was named the Best Contemporary Music Lyricist in the popular category.

As the award ceremony concluded, those within the music industry expressed their enthusiasm about receiving this recognition in Asian music, asserting that the 18th Sunsilk-Channel i Music Awards have provided them with even greater inspiration for their future endeavours.

The grand event is slated to be broadcast on Channel i's screen in December, ensuring that the celebration of musical talent reaches a broader audience.
