Echoes finally resonate in your Attic

Formed in 2012, Attic is one of the forerunners of the new 'indie' generation of Bangladeshi band music. The rising stars released their debut album, titled after their most well-known song, "Echoes in your Attic", which is available for purchase digitally.

Congratulations on your new album. When did you start planning for it?

Years, actually. We started recording the album in 2018, went into post-production in quarantine period of 2020, and that is when we planned to sell the album on our own website. But it took us till April 2021 to finish the album entirely, and then move on to shooting music videos.

How was the response for "Echoes in your Attic"?

The response was decent at first, now it has rather slowed down. Many are still unaware of the album being out, and a lot of them are just not interested in buying an album. Regardless, we are glad that whoever bought it got their money's worth.

Attic did English originals at a time when it was not the norm. Now, many bands have started on this trajectory. Where do you see the future of Bangladeshi songwriting in a global arena?

The bands, in our opinion, are doing great.

However, we think that the people who are writing in English, should now move to international markets. We should be touring outside the country, if possible.

We could be much closer to that goal if only we had a significant amount of support from the locals. However, a lot of them do not pay attention to local artists, and a lot of them who do, resent you for not writing in Bangla.

What are Attic's plans going forward?

After "Indigo Straits", we are releasing the music video for our song "Love/Hate" soon. After the video releases, we'll do a solo show for all the #fanattics, and the people of this city. We also plan to tour abroad by the end of the year.
