Emirates SkyCargo resumes operation to Bangladesh

Emirates SkyCargo, the largest international cargo airline, will operate weekly flights to Bangladesh every Tuesday and Thursday for a month, offering much-needed capacity to local industries, businesses and farmers.

The service, resumed on May 12, is being operated by a passenger Boeing 777-300ER aircraft, offering cargo capacity in the belly-hold and in the cabins -- both in the overhead bins and on passenger seats.

"Emirates SkyCargo has always been at the forefront of facilitating Bangladesh's trade and commerce. We are now playing a vital role in supporting the local industries by helping reinstate the supply chain with markets globally that are the country's key trade partners," said Emirates' Cargo Manager Bangladesh, Sheikh Idrish Ali. 

"The air cargo industry is now more important than ever, and we take our responsibility very seriously. Our highly specialised products -- from Emirates Pharma to Emirates Fresh -- have all been designed to maintain an unbroken cool chain for temperature-sensitive products and maintain the utmost integrity throughout our supply chain. Safety is always top of mind for our employees and customers, and we have ensured full personal safety measures," he said.

Readymade garments, PPEs and facemasks, medicines, perishables and courier goods are expected to form the bulk of cargo from Bangladesh to Europe and the US, and imports are likely to include industrial machinery and raw materials, according to a press release issued recently.

Emirates SkyCargo, based in Dubai, is currently operating nearly 100 scheduled flights to over 70 cities across six continents with its Boeing 777-300ER passenger aircraft and Boeing 777 freighters, besides charter flights to more cities.

The cargo division offers connections to markets such as New York, Washington, Los Angeles, Madrid, Sao Paulo, Chicago, and Texas with daily passenger freighters to London, Frankfurt, Paris, and Brussels.

At its operations hub in Dubai, Emirates SkyCargo has installed sanitisation tunnels for employees and visitors, plus thermal body temperature scanners for employees at Emirates SkyCentral.
