Elderly woman dies with coronavirus-like symptoms in Khulna

A 55-year-old woman died with coronavirus-like symptoms in Rupsha upazila of Khulna early today.

She died at Khulna Medical College Hospital around 1:00am, reports our correspondent quoting the hospital sources.

The woman along with her granddaughter came to their village home from Dhaka with cold, cough and fever a week back, said Dr Anisur Rahman, health officer of Rupsha Upazila Health Complex.

Concealing the information, she took treatment at the health complex before her admission at Khulna Medical College, he alleged.

Khulna Civil Surgeon Dr Sujat Ahmed said they have collected samples of the woman and her granddaughter and sent those to Khulna Medical College for tests.

However, Dr Anal Ray, who signed her death certificate, said the woman died of kidney disease.

Upazila Nirbahi Officer Nasrin Akter said they were preparing a list of those who came in contact with the woman. They will be sent to home quarantine soon, she added.
