EC to publish draft voter list tomorrow

The Election Commission will publish the draft of the updated voter list tomorrow for people's inspection and for inviting claims and objections about it.
Around 46.72 lakh new voters have been registered in the electoral roll across the country, said EC Secretary Sirazul Islam at a press briefing at the EC's media centre in Dhaka today.
Of the new voters, around 26.25 lakh are male and 20.46 lakh are female, he informed.
The new voter list will be available at district and upazila election offices, ward councillors' offices in city corporations and municipalities as well as union parishad offices.
Besides, the list can be found at three websites--www.ec.org.bd, www.ecs.gov.bd and www.services.nidw.gov.bd
People will get chance to correct their information and file any complains about the new list by January 17.
The correction and complains may include--amending personal information and address, excluding names of died persons, appeal for migration from one area to another and any objection against any newly registered voters.
Besides, any person eligible to be voter, who could not be registered, can be included in the list by this time.
The responsible officials will complete correction and resolve the disputes by January 22.
The EC on May 15 started the voter list updating programme and it continued till November 15.
Currently, there are around 9.19 crore voters across the country.
