Dutch defy the odds

Dutch defy the odds

Qualify for Super 10s

The Netherlands painted the Sylhet Cricket Stadium orange as they qualified for the ICC World Twenty20 Super 10s from Group B with a stunning six-wicket victory against Ireland yesterday.
One can't anticipate more fascinating batting fireworks, especially from an Associate nation, in T20 cricket than what the Dutch did to break the Irish as well as Zimbabwean hearts and confirm a place in the Group B along with Sri Lanka, New Zealand, England and South Africa.
While everybody was busy calculating the equations whether it would be Ireland or Zimbabwe, Stephan Myburgh (63 off 23 balls), Peter Borren (31 off 15 balls), Wesley Barresi (40 off 22 balls) and Tom Cooper (45 off 15 balls) had a different target which was rewriting history for their country as their explosive batting enabled them overhaul Ireland's 189 runs, made for the   loss of four wickets, in just 13.5 overs.
The Dutch needed to achieve the runs in 14.2 overs to leapfrog Zimbabwe to finish first from third place and they did it with ease.
