DSA violations: Ninth grader lands in juvenile centre

Police on Saturday arrested a ninth grader for making a Facebook post allegedly defaming Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Earlier on Saturday noon, Hanif Mohammd Nipun, secretary of Hobirbari union Jubo League unit, filed the case under the Digital Security Act accusing the boy of defaming the PM. The case was filed with Bhaluka Police Station.

Police arrested the boy from his house around 10:00pm on Saturday, said Mohammad Mainuddin, officer-in-charge of Bhaluka Police Station.

During primary interrogation, Emon said he had made the post from his account on June 19.

Later the same day, the boy had made another post "admitting to having made a serious mistake", said sub-inspector Md Motiur Rahman, also investigation officer of the case.

The 14-year-old was produced before a Mymensingh court on Sunday which sent him to the Juvenile Correction Center in Gazipur, said the IO.
