Dragonair to run direct flights to HK

Dragonair is set to operate six direct flights between Dhaka and Hong Kong weekly from March 28 to cater to the growing demand from Bangladeshi travellers for the route.
Hong Kong is playing an increasingly important role in the development of Bangladesh and is quickly establishing itself as a key hub for business.
With ease of access, world-class infrastructure and proximity to major Asian markets, many international buyers and trading houses choose to base their regional offices in Hong Kong. This in turn has boosted demand for business travel to and from Dhaka.
Currently, the Hong Kong-based airline makes a three-hour stopover in Kathmandu.    
“We will launch the direct flight on the route with considering the passenger growth in Bangladesh,” Patrick Yeung, chief executive officer of Dragonair, said at a press conference in Dhaka.

The service will enable Bangladeshi travellers to reach Hong Kong in four hours, instead of seven hours now.
A round-trip on the route, which is a distance of nearly 3,000 miles, will cost around Tk 65,500 for the economy and around Tk 126,500 for business class.
Dragonair operated its first weekly flight between Dhaka and Hong Kong in 1989 with a single aircraft, catering mainly to businesspeople.
Biman Bangladesh runs two direct flights on the same route a week.
