DMP rewards 3 BCL leaders

Dhaka Metropolitan Police today rewarded three leaders of Bangladesh Chhatra League and a rickshaw-puller for assisting law enforcers in detaining pickets during the ongoing hartals and blockades.
The BCL leaders are: Iaz Al Riad, Al Nahian Khan and Ruhul Amin -- general secretaries to Dhaka University’s Bangabandhu Hall, Zahurul Haque Hall and AF Rahman Hall respectively.
The trio and rickshaw-puller Mozammel Hossain were given money ranging from Tk 25,000 to Tk 1 lakh for assisting the law enforcers to capture the attackers during the agitation by the BNP-led 20-party alliance.
However, the individual amount was not disclosed, the Bangla daily Prothom Alo reports.
The money was given during a programme arranged at the DMP Information Centre in Dhaka.
Addressing the programme, DMP Commissioner Asaduzzaman Mia said the overall situation in the city has improved beyond expectations despite the unrest created by the 20-party alliance.
