Bangladeshi and Nepali artists hold joint show

A five-day (September 12-16) group art exhibition titled “Kala Sangam”, featuring works of 10 Bangladeshi artists and six Nepali artists closed at the gallery of Sirjana College of Fine Arts (SCFA), Kathmandu, Nepal recently. Mashfee Binte Shams, Bangladeshi Ambassador to Nepal, inaugurated the exhibition as chief guest.

Apart from the chief guest, Kiran Manandhar, noted Nepali artist and Rezaun Nabi, artist and principal of SCFA spoke among others at the inaugural event.

The participating Bangladeshi artists were Rezaun Nabi, Sohana Shahreen, Mahabubul Islam Baabu, Afrozaa Jamil Konka, Maksuda Iqbal Nipa, Bipasha Hayat, Nazia Andaleeb Preema, Gazi Mosaddaqur Rahman, Fahmida Khatun and Golam Faruque Swapan. The Nepalese artists were Pramila Bajracharya, Umesh Shrestha, Samjhana Rajbhandari, Bidhata KC, Arjun Khaling and Sagar Manandhar.

Bangladesh and Nepal have a rich history and heritage. The joint art show aimed to show the linkage between the two cultures and expose aficionados of art and culture to contemporary art.

SCFA with Bivab, a forum for arts, organised the exhibition. Following the opening of the show, an art workshop with the participation of 32 Bangladeshi and Nepalese artists including Kiran Manandhar and Krishna Manandhar was held at SCFA premises. The outcome of the workshop was also on display at the show. Holbein Works (BD) Limited sponsored the workshop.
