Discount bonanza for festivals

Financial service providers, airlines, electronics retailers, clothing brands and motorcycle manufacturers have come up with generous discounts and gifts in the lead-up to the Eid and Puja festivals.

MasterCard, an American multinational financial services corporation, is offering discounts of up to 35 percent on purchases at upwards of 240 outlets and up to 22 percent at a host of restaurants in Dhaka, Chittagong and a couple of other major cities, its Country Manager Syed Mohammad Kamal said.

Furthermore, all MasterCard-holders can get 30 percent discounts on a Turkish Airlines package -- a 12 percent discount on bus tours in Istanbul and Bosphorus Cruise with dinner and traditional cultural programmes. The offer is valid until December 30.

Its gold and platinum cardholders will get 20 percent discounts on economy and business class tickets of Singapore Airlines between September 1 and November 15.

“MasterCard is continually focused on adding value to cardholders' shopping experience. We believe the special offers will encourage the use of electronic payment methods and consumers can enjoy a safer and more convenient shopping experience.”

Regent Airways, too, has gotten in the discount act. The airline is offering an attractive 25 percent discount on tickets for all its destinations with its 'Buy and Fly Now, Get 25 percent Discount on the next flight' offer.

To enjoy the offer, interested passengers will have to buy a ticket on any of its routes from September 10 to October 10, and he/she will get a 25 percent discount on the next ticket purchase.

“It is an attractive promotional offer to show gratitude to our valued customers,” Noor E Tazrian Khan, communication manager at Regent, said.

Transcom Electronics is offering up to a Tk 12,000 cash discounts on all products, including refrigerators, said Sayefus Shahedin, its merchandising manager, adding that the company is also providing services like free home delivery, free home installation and product exchange offer.

Banglalink's 'priyojon' users upon a top-up of Tk 399 will be able to enjoy up to Tk 10,000 in additional discounts on Samsung and Transtec refrigerators and air conditioners.

Rezwanul Haque, senior director of Edison Group, said the company has launched the 'Symphony protidin, Bangkok jite nin' package, which gives one lucky person every day a free ticket on the Dhaka-Bangkok-Dhaka route. The offer will run until October 31.

The offer is valid for any new Symphony handset buyer, regardless of the model or category of handset.

“We believe this offer will be lucrative on the eve of the upcoming Eid and Puja holidays. A large section of our customers are youth and this offer will surely excite them. So, in addition to fulfilling our business objectives, we are trying to give our customers a new experience.”

Partex Star Group is also offering discounts of up to 18 percent on all of its products at Partex Furniture until Eid eve to increase sales, Tareq Aziz, the company's deputy general manager of marketing, said.

Reluce, a fashion house of Partex Star Group, is offering 10 percent discounts on all of its products for Grameenphone 'Star' subscribers at three showrooms in Banani, Jamuna Future Park, and Uttara, Aziz added.

Meanwhile, TVS Auto Bangladesh will give away 500 gifts this season, including a 40-inch Sony LED television, to raise sales of their motorcycles ahead of Eid, said Jakaria, marketing-in-charge of the company. A buyer will be eligible to receive one gift via a scratch card with every purchase till October 10.

Artisti, a leading clothes brand, is offering 60 percent discounts ahead of Eid to share happiness among its customers, said Methun Bhattacharjee, co-ordinator and manager. The offer will continue until October 5.

Hasan Mehdi, head of mobile of Samsung Bangladesh, said the company has three new offers for Eid.

The company's Grameenphone Platinum and Platinum Plus subscribers will also get a pre-booking privilege on the new Samsung GALAXY Note 4, while pre-bookers of the Samsung GALAXY Alpha will get a chance to fly to Athens, Greece through its e-store partner Aamra. This pre-booking is exclusively available at Samsung e-store.
