Dhaka-Delhi trade talks begin today

Bangladesh and India will begin two-day talks on trade facilitation in Dhaka today to review the current status of bilateral trade and discuss measures to remove bottlenecks and improve border infrastructure for trade.
Shahabuddin Patwary, joint secretary of the commerce ministry, will lead the Bangladesh delegation in talks with the Indian delegation led by Arvind Mehta, joint secretary of foreign trade (South Asia) of the commerce department.
This is the ninth round of talks of the joint working group (JWG) on trade established under the framework of the bilateral trade agreement, the Indian High Commission said in a statement yesterday. The eighth meeting was held in New Delhi in June 2013.
The JWG on trade deals with border infrastructure, trade facilitation and identification and removal of trade barriers.
