Awami League to resist BNP’s hartal: Hanif

Awami League Joint General Secretary Mahbubul Alam Hanif today said the ruling party would resist tomorrow’s hartal called by the BNP over rejecting the city corporation polls results.

All leaders and activists of the Awami League, along with the general people, are ready to put up resistance against this type of “evil attempt”, Hanif said in reaction to BNP’s announcement of the strike.

Terming the hartal unacceptable, the AL leader said BNP had to conceal their unavoidable defeat in the national elections.

Hanif was talking to reporters at the office of Dhaka North City Corporation mayor candidate Atiqul Islam in Banani.

All election observers, including locals and foreigners, have said the elections were held in a free, fair and inclusive manner, Hanif added.
