The government has called back the ambassador from the newly-opened Bangladesh embassy in Beirut.

Diplomatic sources said he has been called back due to lack of professional relationship with another embassy official as well as various irregularities involving his wife and a domestic aide which is seriously hampering normal activities of the mission.

Difficulties with the huge Bangladeshi community who have complained against the ambassador are the other reasons, the sources added.

The sources said the foreign ministry in a formal letter to Ambassador AFM Gousal Azam Sarker on July 17 asked him to return to Dhaka and report to the ministry immediately.
