Deal with Hummel in the works

Hummel International, a Denmark-based sportswear manufacturer, has recently shown interest in sponsoring the kits for the Bangladesh National Football League, following the national U-23 team's performance in last month's Asian Games in Korea.

It is the first time that an international sports gear manufacturer has approached the Bangaldesh Football Federation to sponsor kits for the national team, which currently has no clothing sponsor as their 3-year deal with mobile operator Grameenphone expired in late-2012.

“Though they have approached with the view to sponsor only the men's national football team, we are preparing a proposal to persuade them to sponsor all age-level teams and the women's national team. We are even thinking of including the club teams of the Bangladesh Premier League,” said BFF vice president Tabith M Awal, who is a member of National Teams Committee.

Tabith informed that he would travel to Denmark to discuss the matter further with Hummel as soon as he gets the nod from BFF president Kazi Salahuddin.

Replying to a query, the BFF vice president said that Hummel would not provide any money, rather they were interested in providing practice and game jerseys, shorts, socks, shinguards, bags and other gears.
