Child dies after branch of tree falls during storm

A five-year-old child died this evening while on the way to a cyclone centre in Galachipa upazila of Patuakhali.

Rashed, hailing from Kharida village, died on the spot when branch of a tree fell on him around 6:00pm, our local correspondent reports.

The boy along with his family members were going to a nearby primary school to take shelter as super cyclone Amphan is advancing towards Bangladesh's coastal areas this evening.

Md Rafiqul Islam, upazila nirbahi officer in Galachipa, confirmed his death to our correspondent.
