Saraswati idol vandalised at Bogura temple

Miscreants vandalised an idol of Hindu goddess Saraswati at a temple in Dhunot upazila of Bogura early today.

The incident happened around 4am, reports our local correspondent quoting Gaziur Rahman, additional superintendent of Bogura police.

Sumoti Rani, sebayet (caretaker) of the temple, said that she went home after performing puja around 1am. When she came back around 4am, she saw the fence of the temple and some of her clothes on fire.

Inside the temple, the Saraswati idol was beheaded and one of its arms was broken, she added.

"We are yet to identify those responsible," the ASP said adding that a case is being filed in this connection.
