Plaintiff beaten in Panchagarh court premises, one held

The plaintiff of a case and his family members were assaulted by relatives of the accused in the Panchagarh court premises.

The incident took place at the Panchagarh Chief Judicial Magistrate's Court premises this afternoon, reports our Thakurgaon correspondent.

Panchagarh Sadar Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Mostafizur Rahman said police detained a woman named Rubina Khatun (33) but the others escaped.

Both the plaintiffs and the defendants in the case are residents of Tunirhat-Baniapara area of ​​Kamatkajaldighi union of Panchagarh Sadar upazila.

According to court sources, a man named Makshedur Rahman, 33, had filed a case in the court against eight people, including his neighbour Ajirat, 50, in connection with a recent altercation over cutting down tree stalks.

Today, the accused in the case surrendered to the court and sought bail. The court did not grant bail to two of the accused and sent them to jail.

At this time, relatives of the accused beat the family members of the plaintiff in the court premises, leaving five people, including women and children, injured, SI Mostafizur said quoting witnesses.

Later, with the help of the people in the court premises, the police rescued them and admitted them to Panchagarh Modern Sadar Hospital.

A case was being lodged at the Panchagarh Police Station in connection with the incident, he said.
