March 26 violence in N’ganj: Rupganj Jubo Dal convener arrested

Police today arrested Rupganj Jubo Dal leader Delwar Hossain Delu in a case filed over vandalism in Narayanganj on March 26 centring the March 28 hartal called by Hefajat-e-Islam.  

Delwar is the convener of Rupganj unit of Jubo Dal, the youth wing of BNP.

He was arrested from Golakandail bus stand in Rupganj this evening, said Najim Uddin Majumdar, inspector of Bhuluta police camp. 

"A case was filed with Rupganj Police Station on March 27 over the vandalism of vehicles in Bhuluta area on Dhaka-Sylhet Highway on March 26, centring the hartal called by Hefajat," he said.

The Jubo Dal leader was arrested in the case, our Narayanganj correspondent reports quoting the police official.

Jasim Uddin, officer-in-charge of Rupganj Police Station, said Delwar was also accused in several cases filed with the police station.
