Man sentenced to life in prison for raping daughter in Cox’s Bazar

A Cox's Bazar court today sentenced a man to life in prison in a case filed over raping his daughter in 2018.

Judge Jebunnahar Ayesha of the Cox's Bazar Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal-2 passed the verdict in presence of the convict and fined him Tk 50,000, in default of which he will have to serve one year more in jail, Public Prosecutor Syed Rezaur Rahman confirmed to the Daily Star.

The convict, a resident of Ramu upazila was sued by his wife on July 6, 2018 in the case filed at Ramu Police Station.

On May 14, 2019, police submitted the charge-sheet against him which the court accepted, reports our Cox's Bazar correspondent.

Lawyer Mostak Ahmed represented the convict.
