An Indian national was arrested at Dhaka's Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport last evening while he was trying to board a UK-bound flight with a fake visa.

The arrestee was identified as Shakthivel (26).

The man was trying to secure a boarding pass for a UK-bound Biman flight when the official at the counter suspected his visa was fake, Alamgir Hossain, additional superintendent (ops and media) of Airport APBn told The Daily Star.

The officials then contacted immigration liaison officer of UK High Commission who arrived there and confirmed that the visa of Shakthivel was indeed fake.

The liaison officer then put cross mark on the visa, he said.

He was later handed over to APBn who found some travel documents including passport from his possession.

According to APBn officials, the man got the fake UK visa from an agent in India's Chennai and entered Bangladesh on January 20 through Benapole border.

Sub-inspector Mir Ferdous Wahid of Airport APBn today filed a case against him with Airport Police Station.
