Bodies of mother-daughter duo found in Habiganj

Bodies of a woman and her daughter were found at a house in Habiganj's Bahubal upazila this morning.

The deceased were identified as Anjali Malakar (40) wife of Sandeep Das, and their daughter Pooja Malakar (8), reports our Moulvibazar correspondent quoting Alamgir Kabir, sub-inspector of Bahubal Police Station.

The incident took place last night when the husband was in Sunamganj for business purpose, the SI said quoting Sandeep.

Sandeep returned to Digambar Bazar around 6:00am and found the entrance of their home open.

Inside he found the bodies of his wife and daughter under the bed, the SI added.

Amir Ali, their neighbour who lives on the first floor of the same building, was also found injured and has been taken to the hospital.

Amir alleged that a thief stole his sewing machine and hurt him around 3:00am.

"Anjali last talked with her husband over the phone around 4:00am, so the murder must have taken place during the two hours between 4-6 am," said Parvej Alam Chowdhury, assistant superintendent of police of Habiganj.

Amir Ali is being questioned, and a case is being filed in this regard, he added.
