Cricketer Rubel gets 4-week bail

The High Court today granted anticipatory bail to Bangladesh pacer Rubel Hossain for four weeks in a woman-torture case.
The case was filed against the cricketer for allegedly having an affair with a cinema actress, whom he had apparently promised to marry.

The actress filed the case with the Mirpur Model Police Station under the Prevention of Women and Child Repression Act on December 13.
At day’s hearing, the HC passed the order after hearing a petition by Rubel seeking anticipatory bail.
He appeared before the HC bench of Justice Syed AB Mahmudul Huq and Justice Md Akram Hossain Chowdhury for bail in the case.
Deputy Attorney General Bashir Ullah told The Daily Star that Rubel has to surrender before the lower court in connection with the case on expiry of the four-week.
