CPB, BSD slam US, India's 'interference'

It is a “disgrace” that countries like the United States and India discuss Bangladesh's “internal matters”, said leaders of Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB) and Bangladesher Samajtantrik Dal (BSD) at a rally yesterday.  
Letting “imperial powers” intervene in the nation's politics goes against the main values of the Liberation War, said Monjurul Ahsan Khan, former president of CPB.
The rally was held in front of Jatiya Press Club in the capital to observe what the left-leaning parties call “Anti-imperialism Solidarity Day.”
“If we want to uphold the legacy of the Liberation War, we should be alert against imperialism,” said Khalequzzaman, convener of BSD.
Different left-leaning political parties also paid respect to the memorial sculpture of Shaheed Matiul Islam and Mirza Kader at Jatiya Press Club yesterday.
The leaders of the parties said Shaheed Matiual Islam and Mirza Kader were killed on January 1 in 1973 when the police fired on a procession protesting the US invasion in Vietnam.
