Cox’s Bazar Medical College to begin Covid-19 tests from tomorrow

Cox's Bazar Medical College (CBMC) is going to start testing samples for coronavirus infections from tomorrow.

The college successfully tested some samples today at a lab established for Covid-19, CBMC Principal Dr Anupam Barua told our local correspondent.

It is possible to test samples of 96 people in 24 hours at the lab, Dr Barua said, adding, in the first phase the tests would be performed on a limited scale.

No one will be allowed to come to the college directly to be tested, he said.

If any suspected coronavirus patient wants to be tested, he or she will have to do through the district's civil surgeon, Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital caretaker and deputy commissioner.

The test results would then be published through the IEDCR, he added.

Cox's Bazar Civil Surgeon Md Mahbubur Rahman said that the team of doctors, nurses and medical technologists running the tests have been trained under the supervision of the IEDCR.
