Couple ties the knot 52 times

You've heard of gap years and working holidays, but a British couple have embarked on a different kind of adventure, reports Australia based a website The Age.

Alex Pelling and Lisa Grant from Manchester, have spent the last two years tying the knot in every country they visit.

Alex and Lisa met in 2008 and after a year of living together, the pair decided to dismantle their lives and move to Australia. They would travel the world and get hitched along the way, according to the report of The Age.

However, it wasn't until three years later that the couple began their journey. Taking the saying "try before you buy" quite literally, they set off in search of the perfect wedding destination.

Keeping a blog, the couple wrote: "On an adventure of a lifetime, we are going to drive (and ship) around the globe in our 27-year-old camper van Peggy exchanging vows in the most unusual and unique wedding locations we can find.

"We want to experience the difference in every ceremony and find out what it is that makes the bringing of two people together, such a worldwide tradition," they wrote.

So far, Lisa and Alex have participated in 52 ceremonies in over 50 countries, from a traditional English ceremony – their first – to a traditional Guatemalan wedding and even a topless Embera tribe wedding.

Of their travels, the "newlyweds" say they will pick their favourite for an official wedding.

"At the end of the trip we will pick our favourite place and officially tie the knot, inviting everyone we have met along the way."
