Youth picked up by 'lawmen' traceless for 5 days

A youth of Jessore town, who was picked up by men introducing themselves as law enforcers on Saturday, still remains traceless.

The victim is Hossain Ali, son of Akbar Ali of Mobarakpur area under Kotwali Police Station, and an employee of a multinational company.

Hossain's father came up with the allegation at a press conference at the press club in the district yesterday.

The victim's father Akbar at the conference said his son has been working at a multinational company in Comilla after completing his masters. He recently came to the house from his workplace.

On Saturday noon, Hossain went out of home for going to Jessore central bus terminal after receiving a phone call.

“We came to know from a phone call that my son was picked up by some men who introduced themselves as members of the Detective Branch (DB) of police,” Akbar said, adding that his phone remained switched off after the incident.

Later, a general dairy was filed with Kotwali Police Station, he said, adding that they also filed a complaint with the Jessore camp of Rapid Action Battalion but no trace of Hossain was found yet.

Contacted, Ali Ahmed Hashmi, officer-in-charge of Jessore DB police, said he did not know anything about the matter.

They are trying to find out the youth, said OC Ilias Hossain of Kotwali Police Station.
