Youth held on rape charge in Faridpur

A young man was arrested on Tuesday on charge of raping a girl.

The arrestee is Md Hossain Sheikh, 30, son of Habibur Sheikh of Eshakhali village in Boalmari upazila of the district.

The victim, aged about 20, is a worker of a jute mill in the area.

When the girl was waiting alone on a road for a staff bus of her jute mill on Sunday afternoon, Hossain Sheikh took her to a nearby jute field and raped her, said Kaium Hossain, sub-inspector of Boalmari Police Station.

Later, the victim filed a case against Hossain Sheikh under Women and Children Repression Prevention Act, said the SI.

The arrestee was produced before a court that sent him to jail yesterday, said the police official.
