3 more die of dengue in Dhaka, Rangpur, Jhenidah

Three more people died after being diagnosed with dengue in Dhaka, Rangpur and Jhenidah districts today.

Jishan, 22, hailing from Gazipur Sadar upazila breathed his last at Dhaka Medical College Hospital around 7:30am, the hospital’s Assistant Director Nasiruddin said.  

He was admitted to a Gazipur hospital after contracting four to five days back. As his condition deteriorated, he was shifted to the DMCH last night where he died later, Jishan’s family said.

Meanwhile, Mahtab Uddin, 24, of Biral upazila in Dinajpur, died of dengue at Rangpur Medical College Hospital.

Dr Saiduzzaman, associate professor of medicine department at the hospital, said Mahtab was admitted to the hospital on August 18 and had been kept at the intensive care unit for several days.

He was shifted to the general ward recently following improvement of his condition. However, he died there around 1:00am today.

Currently, 34 dengue patients are being treated at the hospital, Dr Saiduzzaman said.

In Jhenidah, a dengue patient died in Kaliganj Upazila Health Complex.

Deceased Sufia Begum, 55, wife of Abdur Rahim of Banuria village under the upazila got admitted to the health complex with high temperature on Monday morning, said Dr Hussain Shafayat, Kaliganj upazila health administrator.

After test it was detected that the mother of children got dengue fever, Dr Hussain said.
