Yemen crisis: 136 more Bangladeshis reach home

A total of 136 more Bangladeshi nationals, who were evacuated from Hodeida, Yemen to Djibouti on 16 April by an Indian Naval Ship, reached Dhaka this evening.

Shahriar Alam, state minister for foreign affairs, received them at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport after they landed around 8:55pm by a special flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines, Zahidul Islam, assistant director of Bureau of Manpower Employment and Training, told The Daily Star.

Earlier in the morning, 29 more Bangladeshi nationals, who were evacuated from Sana, the capital of war-torn Yemen, on 19 April 2015 by International Organization for Migration (IOM), reached Dhaka today from Ethiopia via Mumbai.

A flight of Jet Airways carrying the Bangladeshis landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka around 11:50am, Zahidul Islam, assistant director of Bureau of Manpower Employment and Training, told The Daily Star.

Bangladesh Embassy in Cairo and Bangladesh Embassy Control Cell in Djibouti and the IOM office in Addis Ababa coordinated their evacuation and repatriation.
