Work in limbo as PIO absent for 3 months

Project Implementation Officer (PIO) Mashiur Rahman of Lalmonirhat Sadar upazila has been absent from his workplace for three months since April, creating difficulties in conducting official activities.

He is seen moving around the town for his personal purposes, said his office staff. He did not receive phone calls from his office staff, not even flound at his rented house in the town, they said.

Hailing from Rangpur, Mashiur joined here in October last year. Without submitting any leave, he has been absent from his office since April, said Deputy Commissioner Shafiul Arif.

Office Assistant of PIO office in Lalmonirhat Sadar Hafizur Rahman said they are facing difficulties in running the office due to absence of Mashiur for the last three months.

The DC said they have already informed Director General (DG) of Relief and the ministry concerned and the DG said departmental action will be taken against the PIO by the first week of next month.

The PIO has also been involved with different unsocial activities, he alleged.
