Wife's killer gets life

A court in Gopalganj on Monday sentenced a man to life imprisonment for killing his wife for dowry in 2005.

Judge Md Dolil Uddin of Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal delivered the verdict against Masiur Rahman, 36, son of Mofijur Rahman of Char-Manikdaho village under Sadar upazila of Gopalganj. He was also fined Tk 50,000.  The court acquitted the five other accused.

The victim was Sadia Jahan Tuli, 18, daughter of Nesar Uddin of the same village.

According to the prosecution, Masiur killed Sadia for dowry on November 27 in 2005.
