Waterways workers tonight called off their work abstention following assurance of authorities concerned to hike their wages.

The decision came following a tripartite meeting among government officials, vessel owners and workers at the Department of Labour.

“I declare an end of our work abstention from just now and request all the workers to resume their work,” said Bulbul Ahmed, convener of the Nou-Sramik Sangram Parishad, which enforced the work abstention, at around 11:30pm.
