War crimes evidence found on 6 Gaibandha men

Investigators finalise probe report and will submit to chief prosecutor’s office later in the day

Investigation agency of the International Crimes Tribunal has found evidence of war crimes against six Gaibandha men, only one of whom are in jail now.

The six persons were involved in four incidents of abduction, confinement and killing, arson and looting, Sanaul Huq, co-coordinator of the agency, told reporters at the agency’s Dhanmondi office.   

“We finalised the probe report against the six persons and will submit it to the chief prosecutor’s office today,” he said.

The six war crimes suspects are: Abdul Jabbar Mondol, Jastigar Rahman Khan, Abdul Wahed Mondol, Momtaj Ali Bepari, Azibar Rahman Khan and Ranju Miah.

Of them, only Ranju Miah was arrested while the rest are on the run.

On May 29 this year, the International Crimes Tribunal-1 in Dhaka issued arrest warrant against five of the six men for their alleged involvement with crimes in 1971 war.
