Parbatya Chattagram Jana Sanghaty Samity (PCJSS) President Jyotirindra Bodhipriya Larma, popularly known as Santu Larma, today demanded full implementation of Chittagong Hill Tracts Peace Accord for the sake of the hill tracts people.

“CHT Accord is the certificate of protecting the existence of the people of CHT areas.  If it is not implemented properly their existence will be at stake,” said Santu Larma while addressing a discussion at a Dhaka hotel on the occasion of the 19th anniversary of CHT Peace Accord.

Larma said they will continue their Non-Cooperation Movement (which was started in 2014) based on previously declared ten point programmes aiming at a proper implementation of the CHT Accord.

Criticising the role of state minister and secretary in this regard, he said CHT Affairs secretary Nabo Bikram Kishor Tripura and state minister for Chittagong Hill Tracts Bir Bahadur Ushwe Sing are agents of the government.

Prof Mesbah Kamal of Dhaka University alleged that the prevailing government is not sincere about completely implementing the peace accord.

The government does not have the political will to implement the accord, he added.

Among others, president of Oikya Nap Pankaj Bhattacharya, Barrister Sara Hossain, Sanjeeb Drong, General Secretary of Bangladesh Indigenous Peoples Forum, and Communist Party of Bangladesh President Mujahidul Islam Selim were present at the programme.
