Visiting UK envoy meets Khaleda

Rushanara Ali MP, British Prime Minister's Trade Envoy for Bangladesh, is holding a meeting BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia in Dhaka tonight.

The meeting began around 9:45pm at the Gulshan office of Khaleda, Syrul Kabir Khan, a staff of the BNP chairperson’s press wing, told The Daily Star.

Rushanara arrived in Dhaka for a two-day visit to Bangladesh. She is visiting here to reaffirm the importance Britain attaches to its trade and investment with Bangladesh.

Dhaka is considering the visit highly important as it is taking place at the time when Britain is preparing to leave the European Union, which may affect its trade relations with other countries.

This is her first visit to Bangladesh as a Trade Envoy.
