Verdict on Bodi’s graft case Nov 2

Abdur Rahman Bodi

A Dhaka court will deliver verdict in a corruption case filed against ruling Awami League lawmaker Abdur Rahman Bodi for hiding wealth information and discrepancies in his wealth statements and income tax returns.

Judge Abu Ahmed Jamader of Special Judges Court-3 set the date after hearing arguments in the case.

The Anti-Corruption Commission filed the case with Ramna Police Station in the capital on August 21, 2014, accusing the legislator from Cox’s Bazar-4 constituency of amassing wealth illegally and concealing information in his wealth statement.

The property value of Bodi rose to Tk 2.88 crore from Tk 47.78 lakh in five years, according to his wealth statements submitted to the Election Commission in 2008 and 2014.

Five years back, his yearly income was only Tk 2 lakh, which increased to Tk 15 crore in 2014.
