Sarah Sewall, US under-secretary of state, and Alan Bersin, assistant secretary for US Homeland Security, led the two delegations.

Talks were held mainly on two issues, counter-terrorism and sending back illegal Bangladeshi immigrants from the US, the minister said.

Both sides talked about sharing expertise and experience on counter-terrorism between the two countries, the minister said. “Bangladesh will welcome an initiative to train law enforcers by the US in this regard.”

US delegates were told that all counterterrorism activities by the government are conducted in accordance with human rights issues.
