Mass people, specially the young generation, in Kulaura upazila have started reaping the benefits of the digital platform, first of its kind in the area.

Kulaura upazila administration set up the digital platform at the upazila complex premises, spending Tk 4.5 lakh, and inaugurated it on December 16 last year.

The initiative is playing a significant role as one can enrich his/her knowledge by watching movies on Liberation War, documentaries on bad effects of child marriage, awareness against militancy, dramas encouraging girls' education and, of course, the history of Bangladesh, locals said.

It will also help their children to improve their attitude, they said.

Selina Begum, a Class V student at Rabeya Adarsha Primary School, said, β€œI have seen the movie 'Amar Bondhu Rashed' with my friends, which shows me how to love our country.”

Farmer Prokas Das, 45, of Pusainagar village in Hakaluki Haor area, said the digital platform helps him to gather more knowledge on agricultural issues.

Mosabbir Ali, a journalist of local weekly Kulaurar Dak, said such initiative will encourage the new generation and help them to learn the history of Bangladesh.

Bhuksimoil Union Parishad Chairman Azizur Rahman said government information can reach the mass people more easily now.

Kulaura Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Chowdhury Mohammad Golam Rabbi said they installed the digital platform under the project titled 'Think big, act big.'

Students can enjoy the show during weekly and government holidays while others can enjoy it on the other days, the UNO said.

β€œAt the beginning, people were not much interested to come here, but the number of visitors is gradually increasing now,” the UNO said.
