UN secy gen hails Bangladesh’s progress

United Nations Secretary General António Guterres has lauded Bangladesh’s progress in the areas of economic growth, resilience and risk management.

His appreciation came at a meeting with Bangladesh Foreign Secretary Md Shahidul Haque when the latter made a courtesy call at UN headquarters.

The secretary general expressed his gratefulness to Bangladesh for its contribution to peacekeeping in the meeting, said a press release issued from the permanent mission of Bangladesh in the UN.

Referring to the threats of climate change, the UN secretary general said that he wants Bangladesh in the frontline of the battle against climate change, as always.

Secretary Haque expressed Bangladesh’s commitment to the values and principles of the UN and said that Bangladesh looks forward to his leadership to uphold the interest of developing countries.

Permanent Represent of Bangladesh to the United Nations, Ambassador Masud Bin Momen, Director General (UN) Sadia Faizunnesa and Deputy Permanent Representative of the Mission Tarek Md Ariful Islam were present in the meeting.
